Diane Leah
Diane Leah is an experienced pianist, arranger, and Music Director with credits that span forty years in Canadian music. She performed with her own jazz vocal group “Cloudburst” and acted as Music Director for Catherine McKinnon and Don Harron from 1983 – 2000.
Diane’s most recent Music Theatre credits include Annie (YPT) and We Will Rock You (Associate Music Director) . She was nominated for a Dora Mavor Moore Award (Canadian Theatre awards) for her work on YPT’s production of A Year With Frog and Toad.
As Music Director / pianist for Tony Award-nominated Louise Pitre (Mame, Mama Mia), Diane has performed in various concert formats, from duo to symphony orchestra, throughout Canada and the U.S. In September of 2013, she helped create On The Rocks, Louise’s well received biographical show. Diane also recorded La Vie en Rouge, a tribute to Edith Piaf.
As an accompanist and Musical Director, Diane has worked with a vast array of artists, including Jackie Richardson (Cookin’ at the Cookery), Alana Bridgewater (We Will Rock You), Mark Cassius, Susan Gilmour (Lady Sings The Tunes) and Thom Allison (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Over The Rainbow - CBC television). She was pianist and arranger for Thom’s album “Whole Lotta Sunlight” and recently performed with Thom in his seasonal show Shut Up! It’s Christmas.
Diane is Director of Music at Metropolitan Community Church of Toronto and has released three CDs with the MCC Toronto Choir, “House of Love”, “The Choir: Connected”, and their latest, released in the fall of 2012, “These Old Walls”, which is currently available on iTunes. Diane was honoured to act as Musical Director, performing with the choir and several other guests at the Celebration of Life for Jack Layton. After twenty years as Music Director, Diane will retire in September of 2019 to pursue many other music related activities.
In January of 2013, Diane was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for public service.
